Mr. Pichai Watcharawongpaiboon Director of the Office of Conservation Area Phetchaburi Branch has announced the opening of the Khao Phanoen Thung tourist attraction from 1st November 1, after being closed for almost 3 years to tourists travelling to the Kaeng Krachan National Park.
Visitors must comply with the measures issued by the Ministry of Public Health, including being vaccinated, a requirement to enter all Kaeng Krachan National Park areas.
Khao Phanoen Thung is situated around 50 kilometres from the National Park main office. The high mountain consists of expansive grasslands 1,207 metres above sea level. The surrounding area is tropical rain forest where vast numbers of wildlife are living. Phanoen Thung has scenic viewpoints to observe an amazing sea of mist that can be seen throughout the year, even in summer.
This mist is the result of the plentiful forest but in the mornings, the entire valley is covered with the white mist. The tropical rain forest down the valley will appear after the mist disperses. Occasionally, the wreathed hornbill can be seen flying over the forest.
The weather at Phanoen Thung is cool throughout the year. Kilometre 30 and 36 are the best scenic point for the sea of mist. Khao Phanoen Thung is a tourist attraction that offers some of the most spectacular scenery especially at the end of the rainy season and the beginning of winter in November.
In addition, the park is open to tourism around the Kaeng Krachan Dam and at the Ban Krang Camp area.
There is a new service centre ready to take care of tourists 24 hours a day. Kaeng Krachan National Park has measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 with the number of tourists visiting the park area controlled and all staff are fully vaccinated.
Tourists asked to coordinate with the staff to arrange camping trips. The Kaeng Krachan National Park telephone number is 032 – 772 311.
