THE 2021 GIANT SQUID SAILING RACE

At the end of the Cha-Am fishing harbour pier stand a pair of giant squid. This is the landmark that the Sailing Club Hua Hin uses as the half way mark for a major December racing event, the Giant Squid Race.

The Giant Squid Race is on Sunday 12th December, when sailboats will set sail from the Sailing Club Hua Hin at 12 noon; past the Cha-Am viewpoint, the venue and last day of the Cha-Am Food Festival, then reaching the squid statues and returning, a total distance of around 20 kilometres.

Sailors can rent a Laser or Optimist, or even the Bahia or the Hobie for the dash to Cha Am Pier and back. Always great fun and at this time of year there should be plenty of wind.

On their return competitors and their supporters, we will have a Christmas buffet party at the oceAnside Club premises.

It’s not too late to enter the race or just come and watch the boats finish at about 3pm and join the party as a spectator.
