DISASTEROUS FLOODING IN SAM ROI YOT

Mr. Chayaphon Inthasupha, Sam Roi Yot District Chief Has visited a flood-affected villageS after two days of torrential rain. causing wild water to flow from the Tanaosri Mountains with severe flooding in Sam Roi Yot.

Four sub-districts, Tambon Rai Mai, Tambon Rai Kao, Tambon Salalai and Tambon Silaloi with fifteen villages have been affected including homes, agricultural areas and shrimp farms have been damaged.

Mr Chayaphon said that on the evening of November 23rd , heavy rain for about 5-6 hours in ​​Sam Roi Yot district caused rapid flooding.

The floods have caused damages to various agricultural crops especially the rice fields that the villagers were about to harvest, but also fruit crops such as jackfruit and mango.

The villages of Koh Mon and Koh Phai were the last point to be flooded, near wetlands with shrimp farms also damaged.

Surveys will now be conducted with reports indicating the need to declare a disaster area so that government assistance can be received.
