DEP of AIRPORTS AND TRANSPORT OFFICIALS INSPECT HUA HIN AIRPORT RUNWAY CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

Senior executives from the Department of Airports and the Ministry of Transport have visited Hua Hin Airport to inspect the progress of construction to expand the width of the airport runway.

The project is well underway with a government budget of 250 million baht to upgrade the facility.  As a full international airport this will ensure compliance with the rules in accordance with international safety regulations.

Chairman of Phoenix Aviation, Udorn Olsson says that “under the Phoenix-Plan, Hua Hin Airport will be ready in every aspect to be the gateway to success that develops the potential of travel, both in relation to tourism, investment and education.”

“Hua Hin is ready to be a regional aviation hub and Prachuap Khiri Khan province is also ready to be a centre for area development according to the project ‘Thailand Riviera 4 Plus 2’, which will consist of Samut Sakhon, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan. Chumphon, Ranong and Surat Thani”, said Mr Olsson.

The next stage of the runway extension will see soil filling work to expand the width of the runway forward to full capacity to be completed by June 2021.  News about the first arrivals of international flights is eagerly awaited, reported to commence before the year’s end.

There are also plans to renovate the existing terminal to accommodate tourists soon to be arriving at the Hua Hin Airport.
