SINGKHON BORDER SMUGGLING ARRESTS– A BIG FACE MASK BUST!

Arrests have been made at the Prachuap Khiri Khan Singkhon checkpoint for allegedly attempting to smuggle goods from Thailand to Myanmar.  Not drugs, captured wildlife or any other illegal items, but in this case over 100,000 face masks.

Arrested were Mr. Natthapong Changmao, the driver of a Toyota Hilux and Ms. Ladawan Prakampran.  Loaded on the pick-up vehicle were cardboard boxes covered by many kinds of fruit such as apples, rambutans, longkong, jackfruit and mangoes.   The goods were to be loaded on a Myanmar registered six-wheelers to cross the border into the province of Myeik in Myanmar.

When the 44 cardboard boxes were opened, 3-ply face masks were discovered totaling 130,500 pieces.

The pair arrested were charged for not having a license to export according to the announcement of Section 167 of the Customs Act B.E. 2560.
