MAKING AND DONATING HOSPITAL BEDS – A LOCAL BENEFACTOR TAKES A PRACTICAL APPROACH

A Thap Sakae fiberglass boat manufacturer wanting to support the local hospital has taken a very practical approach, making and donating beds for the field hospital.’

Mr. Posit Kruawan, the owner of the company P.S.P. Fibertech Co., Ltd., a large fiberglass boat manufacturer in Thap Sakae District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province is in the process of building 50 steel beds for the field hospital operated by the Thap Sakae Hospital.

Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the area, field hospitals have been using cardboard beds which may then be discarded, when a metal bed can last for ten years.

MAKING AND DONATING HOSPITAL BEDS – A LOCAL BENEFACTOR TAKES A PRACTICAL APPROACH

“Previously, I intended to donate 100,000 baht to Thap Sakae Hospital caring for those infected with COVID-19, but I found that most of the beds were not strong.   My idea was to build metal beds using workers in the fiber boat factory to cut and weld steel structural components.

We purchased steel from a local shop and working overtime, can produce 10 beds per day. It is expected that next week, 50 beds will be built for delivery to Thap Sakae Hospital.”

The full production costs, including the steel, a 10 mm plywood base, pillows and covered with rubber fabric for convenient cleaning and disinfection is 2,500 baht so the 50 beds being donated will cost around 125,000 baht.
