Police have arrested 14 people after drugs and firearms were found at a pool villa house on the outskirts of Cha-Am.
The area is away from more typical residential areas and known as the location of large pool villas, rented out as short-term premises often used as the venues of weekend parties. They are equipped with disco lights and sound equipment, pool tables and large swimming pools, able to accommodate groups of up to 10 -15 people, typically visitors from Bangkok.
Prohibited items found in a search during the raid, made by more than ten police officers, included hand guns and ammunition, methamphetamines, ecstasy and drug paraphernalia.
Those arrested were men and women, aged 18-28 years old, found inside the premise. They were detained for drug testing and further investigations at the Cha-Am police station.
The arrests have resulted in charges being made for possession of drugs for sale, possession of narcotics, possession of firearms and using narcotics.
