The all new MG5 2022, a new subcompact sedan from MG is set to return to Thailand again after the previous model disappeared from the market quietly.
Although MG Thailand is currently raking in substantial sales from the SUV market mainly. (Currently, only MG3 is still marketed in the sedan segment), but the all-new MG5 2022 is set to come back to hit the Thai market again to be a competitor in the B-Segment car group, whether It will be Honda City/City Hatchback, Toyota Yaris/Yaris ATIV, Mazda 2 and Toyota Vios, among others, with plans to market in the second half of 2021.
The new MG5 design is clearly different from the original. With the body focusing on the curves and sleeker highlights with a 4-door coupe-style body with a roof line that slopes to the trunk lid.
This is a design approach applied to the larger MG6, and it is expected that the main selling point of the new MG5 is a focus on the body size that is almost as big as its competitors in the C-segment.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with a large 12.3-inch gauge with a 10.25-inch touch infotainment screen, complemented by a Yamaha Hi-Fi Audio system with 6 speakers. 6-way rider, including the sunroof that is available on most MG models.
The power of the All-new MG5 2022 in China is a 1.5-litre Blue Core 2.0 MEGA Tech gasoline engine that can be selected either without a turbo, a maximum power of 120 horsepower, a maximum torque of 150 Nm, transmitted with a CVT automatic transmission and with a turbo that increases the maximum power to 173 horsepower, maximum torque of 275 Newton – meters, is transmitted by a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox
The new MG5 also features the MG Pilot driving assistance system, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Apeed Assistant System, and a 360-degree camera.
The launch in Thailand is expected in the second half of 2021.
