Dining at the Laksasubha Hua Hin Resort can be a most enlightening experience.  In the midst of the gloom and doom that has descended upon the local hospitality scene, the Laksasubha Rim Talay Restaurant shines brightly, with host Mom Lak showing her way of beating the Copvid-19 blues.

Our invitation was to join Mom Lak, and her special guests, Tourism Authority of Thailand provincial Governor Ms Soraya Homshein with her marketing team and Khun Deer Felgate representing the Phoenix Aviation Group, as the Laksasubha chefs demonstrated their versatility and mastery of international cuisine.

With the resort now featuring set menus of cuisine from countries including Vietnam, Mexico, Spain and China along with aromatic Thai specialties, a steady stream of sensational dishes were served, perhaps Mom Lak’s favourites, based on her experiences living abroad in South American, European and Asian locations.

But the most enlightening experience was about gaining an insight into how the Laksasubha continues to shine in ways other than their amazing cuisine.

As well as her international exploits, Mom Lak has immaculate Thai credentials as the great granddaughter of Prince Nares.  The name of the frontage road of the Laksasubha, Naresdamri, can be translated as ‘the place where Nares lives’ as just one reminder of this Thai heritage.  Mom Lak is original owner, founder and resort resident General Manager of the Laksasubha.

This is a very independent establishment with the influence and personality of the owner always on show in the décor and the service, apart from the cuisine.  But Mom Lak also has an ability to be innovative, to adapt and to inject fresh ideas without the corporate constraints of many ‘big box’ resorts which must adhere to a corporate image and Bangkok marketing demands. 

They may also suffer from a succession of General Managers who typically must move on unannounced, just when they are being recognised and appreciated by guests and the local community.  Returning guests from every region of Thailand and all corners of the globe consider Mom Lak to be their special friend as she has welcomed them her own charming way and flair over many years.      

This Laksasubha formula for success in the rapidly changing Covid environment has become Mom Lak’s personal trademark; there’s no doom and gloom at when you’re a guest at this resort.
