The Phetchaburi Provincial Governor and Provincial Police Commander have held a press conference to describe the interception of tour bus smuggling drugs worth 165 million baht, with 2,990,000 methamphetamine pills and 184 kilograms of ice. .
There tour bus from Ratchaburi province, is alleged to have been en route to Songkhla Province, but was intercepted near Tha Yang on Phethakasem Road on March 18th. The bus is a Patcharee Tour bus with Mr. Amorn Chatavittayakul, age 53, as the driver.
He is reported to have stated that he had received 100,000 baht for the transport of the drugs, stored in side compartments under the tour bus. The value of the 2,990,000 tablets of methamphetamine is estimated to be 90 million baht and the 184 kg of ice medicine valued at 75 million baht, totalling 165 million baht.
The Phetchaburi Provincial Governor said tackling drug smuggling is an important policy of the government., involving the military, police and the Lao PDR, with the largest number of major drug arrests in Phetchaburi Province this year.
He congratulated the Phetchaburi Provincial Police for coordinating the investigation leading to this interception.
