A shiny obelisk similar to those found in the United States, on a hilltop in Romania and at Compton Beach on the Isle of Wight has now appeared alongside the Sheraton’s Luna La Pran Restaurant by the ocean.
In November 2020, a similar-looking reflective structure appeared briefly in the Utah desert, followed by the others. Now this latest sighting has sparked the imaginations of UFO spotters, conspiracy theorists and local Stanley Kubrick fans with many noting the object’s similarity with the strange alien monolith that triggered huge leaps in human progress in Kubrick’s classic sci-fi “2001: A Space Odyssey.”
The Sheraton obelisk appearance drew speculation amongst diners at the ‘Thank Sheraton It’s Friday’ on March 26th; where could it have come from? The shiny pillar — which protrudes around 3 metres from the grounds of the Sheraton was revealed to local media by Robin Bernhard, the Sheraton’s Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, who denied any knowledge of its origins and any association with April Fool’s Day.
The next TSIF event on Friday 2nd April is all about epic burgers with the live burger stations offering Pulled Pork Burgers, Beef Burgers, Fish Burgers, Greek Burgers and Chili Burgers. This will be a great opportunity to relax on the oceanside Luna Law at sunset sipping a cocktail, mocktail, beer or glass of fine wine as you consider the wonders of the Sheraton obelisk.
