Thailand’s Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed serious concern over results of a recent survey indicating that people wearing face masks in public has fallen from 90% to 80% percent in just a month.

He said today that this risks a new round of infections, as he urged everyone not to lower their guard and to continue to wear face masks every time they are outdoors.

The minister also displayed an international certificate of vaccination, which he said will be issued to everyone who receives the vaccination, so it can be used to apply for a passport or visa or to show that they have been vaccinated and are safe.

Meanwhile, it is reported that one medic suffered severe side effects and 19 other people, out of 7,262 who were inoculated in the past three days, developed mild side effects.

Disease Control Department Director-General Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong said today (Wednesday) that the medic, working in Samut Sakhon province, experienced a shivering sensation, nausea and low blood pressure after the vaccination.

After she was given adrenalin, her condition improved.

Of those who have been vaccinated in the past three days, 6,784 are public health volunteers, 365 are officials whose responsibilities require them to be in close contact with infected people, 22 have congenital diseases and 91 are living in high-risk areas.
