Dr. Solar Kuharat, a public health doctor in Prachuap Khiri Khan has announced that a COVID 19 patient is now in hospital after a positive test.
The person concerned is a 49 year old man from the Netherlands who is a Hua Hin resident who had returned to Thailand earlier in February.
After returning to Hua Hin from his Bangkok quarantine, there have been multiple close contacts including his wife and children, friends, and when dining and shopping, however contract tracing has revealed only negative results.
The person had entered the country and completed his quarantine period in a Bangkok hotel before leaving after negative test results. It is presumed that he was infected at the hotel after 10th February, and is now remaining in a Hua Hin hospital although without symptoms. Further testing will take place early next week.
The man had travelled by car rental from Bangkok. He picked up his son from the Hua Hin International School and also attended his wife’s birthday party at a Black Mountain restaurant with 10 others, both Thai and foreigners.
There has also been visits to shops, the Lakeview Golf Course other local places and had visitors at his home.
On 20 February 2564, he travelled back to Bangkok where he stayed at a hotel there after stopping at a PTT gas station, shopping at the Yaowarat market, the Siam Paragon department store and to a Japanese restaurant.
On 22nd February the man had returned to Hua Hin and attended the Blúport Resort Mall, the Centara Hua Hin Resort and other places before being tested positively at a Hospital in Hua Hin and then being admitted.
The case points to the need to follow distancing and other prevention methods, including wearing face masks, rather to become complacent to the possibility of Covid-19 exposure.
