Police have charged with arrested Miss Kannika Sornchan or Koi, age 22, with attempted robbery with a firearm in relation to the failed robbery of a bank in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The attempted robbery involved an offender, described as ‘’looking like as tomboy’’, wearing black with a fully enclosed helmet, entering a bank, threatening staff with a gun then running off empty handed after being startled by bystanders.
The offender then highjacked a motorcycle from a 61 year old women some 100 metres from the scene. The motorcycle was found abandoned nearby.
During police investigations information has been received about the accused allegedly being involved in a series of previous incidents related to online gambling debts. This has included embezzlement when employed at a hotel with an amount of four hundred thousand baht used to pay for online gambling debts.
A previous robbery has also been alleged with the theft of 28,500 baht in cash, a gun weapon and a motorcycle. It is believed that the stolen firearm was the same one used for attempted bank robbery.
In addition, on February 20, the accused is alleged to have embezzled a significant amount of money after borrowing a phone then transferring money into an account again to pay online gambling debts.
Investigations are continuing into all the matters revealed during questioning and from information received.
