At 12:30 PM today (Monday February 22nd) Police Lieutenant Colonel Ying Supaporn Duangkalaya, an investigating officer at Muang Prachuap Khiri Khan Police Station, received a report of a firearm being used in a bank robbery attempt at the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) at the Prachuap Khiri Khan District branch near Prachuap City Hall.
Police attending the scene were informed spoke to a 40 years old employee in a state of panic.
They were informed that during the lunch period with five customers in the bank waiting in line, a female offender about 35 years old, looking like a tomboy, dressed in black, and wearing a full black helmet walked in and pointed a gun at staff.
The offender was shouting that money should be put in a bag but became startled and ran away before any money was received.
Bystanders had shouted that the police were coming causing the offender to panic and run away.
Outside the bank a 61 year old around 100 metres away was threatened with the gun and her motorcycle taken as the offender fled the scene.
The abandoned motorcycle was found nearby and the offender was thought to have run to hide in nearby dense mangrove forest.
Investigations are continuing with the bank closed for the day as a crime scene.
