The Department of Special Investigations (DSI) has been conducting enquiries into an allegation that land sold for a big development in the Ban Lat District of Phetchaburi Province is part of a National Park Reserve with fraudulent sales being made to foreigners.
The development referred to as the ‘Phetchaburi Park Project’ is on 555 Rai, with hotels, condominiums, houses and commercial developments being offered. All 21 plots of land in the project that are documented for a Utilization Certificate (Nor Sor 3) are alleged to be in the forest reserve. Only the remains of a smashed sales office building could be found.
The DSI were prompted to investigate after receiving a letter from Mr. Srisuwan Chanya, Vice President of the Thai Constitutional Protection Organisation Association, alleging that many foreigners were being tricked into buying properties with doubts about the authenticity of the land title deeds.
