The Thai-Danish Dairy Cooperative in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi Provinces in crisis mode following the measure to announce school closure Due to the COVID-19 situation.
Raw milk used to produce pasteurized school milk has not been used and the oversupply has resulted in more than 300 tons of raw milk being dumped.
Regional cooperatives are committed to buy milk from dairy farmers to produce pasteurized school milk for schools in many other provinces and regions. But when the government announced the closure of schools in 28 provinces for at least a month this milk becomes unable to be processed and the only current option is to dump the produce.
Today a protest about this issue resulted in the milk being dumped outside a government office. After a two hour meeting failed to resolve the problem a report will be forwarded to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives however protests are likely to continue until a solution can be found and a clear solution for the Dairy Cooperatives.
