If you’re looking for or want to get rid of paper bags or glass bottles, plastic to use for arts and crafts at your school, bubble wrap, boxes, or anything really; a quick post in a new Hua Hin Facebook page may be the answer.
After a Bangkok Facebook group was created only 1 month ago there were soon over 1,000 members. With minimal recycling infrastructure in place throughout Thailand, this is a great initiative to reduce waste and work towards a more circular economy.
Now a similar Facebook page has just been set up so that anyone in Hua Hin can do the same thing – pass on recyclables and consumables that you no longer need, for free, to others in the community.
It’s very simple. make a Donation Post about what you want to give away, or a Looking For Post about what you’re seeking for yourself, your shop or organisation or charity project.
Include a possible pickup location, which makes it easier for people to swap when they’re close by. The recipient covers pickup or shipment fees.
Group members are also encouraged to share ways to recycle and locations that take recyclables in Hua Hin.
Sharing in other community groups in Hua Hin and inviting friends in Hua Hin to join will also mean the more people know about it, the better it works and more trades happen.
