Today (Thursday 24th December), Thaweesil Wissanu Yothin, MD. Spokesperson, announced after the meeting of the Coronavirus Disease Management Center confirmed that a lock-down was not considered at the meeting. 

Four areas have been described 1) maximum control area 2) control area 3) surveillance area and 4) surveillance area
 
Maximum control areas are only in Samut Sakhon Province.

This is where there is a large number of infected people and more than one (sub) area which are expediting the detection of infected people in vulnerable areas, groups of people at risk and risky activities.

These areas are isolation those infected by setting up a field hospital to consider, treat and take care of the welfare of the infected families.

Everyone must wear a mask and there is a focus on cleaning the contact areas and the avoidance of touching or entering a place with a large number of people.

It is strictly forbidden for foreign workers to move in and out of the area with the control of access to vehicles and Thai people without affecting trade and industry more than necessary.

There shall be established checkpoints, screening points, extraction points and patrols in order to control and limit access with a Work From Home measure as well as educational institutions to adjust the format of online teaching.

Organised activities should not involve a large number of people, including New Year.

2) Controlled Areas are adjacent to the Maximum Controlled Areas which have more than 10 infected people, this relates to Bangkok, Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi and Nakhon Pathom.

Public activities are limited with not more than one hundred people. Public events should be restricted to people familiar to you such as friends and family. This will not include celebrations including New Year. 

3) High Surveillance Area have less than 10 infected people. High surveillance area able to organise activities, but reduce the size and density of participants and control congestion. However New Year events can be organised after considering the situation and status of each area.

The provinces in this category include Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan as well as Saraburi, Samut Prakan, Suphan Buri, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Uttaradit, Chachoengsao, Kamphaeng Phet, Phetchabun, Ayutthaya, Phuket, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachin Buri, Krabi, Khon Kaen, Chai Nat, Udon Thani, Phichit, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Sawan and Ang Thong.

4) Surveillance areas have no new infections.

All establishments can still operate with fisheries being before tested before setting sail and the testing of seafood.

The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Public Health has full confidence in the testing procedures.
