Amanda Obdam, 27, a Thai-Canadian model from Phuket, has been crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2020, and will be the Thai representative at the upcoming 69th Miss Universe 2020.
The 1st runner-up went to Praveenar Singh, a half Thai-Indian from Chiang Mai.
The 2nd runner-up goes to Punika “Polly” Kulsoontornrut, from Prachuap Khiri Khan, a Thai beauty queen who represented Thailand in the Miss Earth 2013 pageant.
The final competition took place during the evening of October 10th, 2020 (SAT) at TRUE ICON Hall (ICONSIAM) in Bangkok. This year, the pageant is being presented under the concepts of ‘Real you, Real Universe, and Empowering Beauty’. The announcements were divided into four rounds: Top 20, Top 10, Top 5, and Top 3.
Over 29 contestants, Amanda caught all eyes and the full attention of both audiences and judges throughout the contest. She confidently came with her dark gray two-piece in the swimsuits competition, and the gorgeous dress in red color during the evening gown competition.
During the Top 5 Q&A segments, she was asked that in a hundred years from today who would have a chance to become an influential woman in the 21st century, she answered that “all women have a chance to become because ‘we’ are very strong and powerful.”
During the Top 3 Q&A all ladies were asked with the same question, which is if she becomes the new Miss Universe Thailand, in what way would she represent herself as an icon of Thailand, she replied that she will show herself and even she was born half Thai-Canadian but she is truly a Thai lady, so she is going to present all of her Thainess within herself to the world.
Being the winner of the pageant, Amanda received a cash prize of one million Baht, a Honda Civic car, as well as a fully-furnished condominium. She will also represent Thailand at the 69th Miss Universe 2020 competition, and will be the new hope for all Thais to get the 3rd crown of Miss Universe back to the Kingdom, after the last crown was 32 years ago in 1988.
