HUA HIN COMMEMORATES THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE PASSING OF KING RAMA IX

    To recollect memories of His Majesty King Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Hua Hin Municipality has organised many activities from morning until evening on the anniversary of his death. The Hua Hin mayor, Mayor Nopporn Wuttikun has been encouraging the performances of over 100 dancers as they rehearse in readiness for the commemoration on Tuesday (13th October); the 4th anniversary of the passing of King Rama IX.

    “Walk, Run, Ride and Embrace Father Rama 9” will be held in front of Wang Klai Kangwon palace organised by the Wang Hua Hin Running Club.  A Buddhist Prayer Ceremony will take place at the Multi-Purpose Building (Dome), of Ban Hua Hin Municipality School to make alms by giving rice and dried food to 99 monks at Nebkhehas Road In front of Ban Hua Hin Municipality School

    There will also be a wreath laying ceremony at the school.  Volunteers will undertake a cleaning project at the front of the Wang Klai Kangwon palace.

    In the evening “Walk with heart to father’s house” invites will be a walk from Pone Kingpetch Park to the Wang Klai Kangwon Royal Palace (1.5 km distance) and at 6:30 p.m. a candle-lighting ceremony with participants being silence and standing still to commemorate the grace of His Majesty the King for 89 seconds.

    Participants are asked to comply with measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing face masks and maintain social distancing and to cooperate with screening measures.

    Army Spokesman Lt Gen Santipong Thammapiya has invited the public to wear yellow and attend nationwide ceremonies.  He said army units and local communities nationwide will hold merit-making rites and take part in community services to pay homage to the late king.
