After receiving a phone complaint Mr. Nutwutwut, Phetcharaphammarat, Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi Province has visited Cha-Am beach fish markets to look at the pricing and reviewed the weight measurement standards of vendors selling a variety of fresh seafood.
The visit included checks on the scales being used as well as health safety standards and correct labelling of the produce. The visit was not able confirm the complaint information and the vendors were considered to be honest sellers for consumers to be assured that practices at the market meet all the required standards.
The Cha-Am fish markets, located at the northern end of the main beach, are an important part of the Cha-Am economy which continue to be highly valued by retail customers as well as supplying many restaurants and hotels. The markets also offer visitors to see the operations of a working fishing industry and to enjoy fresh seafood prepared by a number of restaurants located at this popular tourism attraction.
