On 5th September at the Prachuap Khiri Khan foreshore, Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop Former Deputy Prime Minister presided over the opening Round Three of the Thailand Jet Ski Championship “Jet Ski Pro Tour 2020”, with Mr. Pirom Nilthaya, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Province.
Also in attendance were Col. Chao Sawansan, Commander of the Wing 5, Mr. Kitti Pong Suk Phakkul, Provincial Permanent Secretary, Mr. Prajadee Nakkhiew, Director of the Sports Center of Thailand, Prachuap Province, Ms. Saengchan Kaew Pratum Rasmi, Ms. Soraya Homchuen, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Prachuap Office and other government agency, private sector, company sponsor representatives.
However the local media have reported that the general public was unable to enjoy the action of this closed system competition with uninvited visitors kept away from the stands and limits to the number of visitors. Local media reporters also expressed their dissatisfaction at being unable to cover the event.
Jet ski fans were advised to watch the competition via live streaming on Facebook and YouTube on jetskiprotour channel or on the True Visions channel, broadcast live.
The unexplained restrictions and lack of promotion for this event seem to be in direct contradiction of the stated intention of tourism authorities to promote domestic tourism.
Hua Hin sponsors included the Van Nava Water Park, True Arena, the Intercontinental Resort and Holiday Inn.
