After the Phetchaburi Emergency Call Centre received a 191 call at 6.17 pm with reports of gunfire and casualties, police rushed to the north end of Cha-Am beach on Tuesday evening.

On beach adjacent to  Soi 4 North, two men people were found injured, with one in a critical condition, after being shot with a 9 mm gun.

They were named as Krisada Samutrat, 25, who was in the stomach and right leg and Jarukit Samantha, 36 years old, who was shot three times in the stomach, once in the arm and once in the leg.

The injured men were first taken to Cha-Am hospital before being transferred to Phetchaburi Hospital.

The reports indicate there was a fist fight after a disagreement concerning deckchair and speedboat operations before the shooting took place.

The police are reported to be seeking Chanapol Bangkaew, 32, a Cha-Am Municipality employee, who has been named as a suspect in the shooting.
