KUI BURI REFORESTATION A FOCUS OF MOTHER’S DAY ON WEDNESDAY

Mr. Anon Prompien, the district sheriff of Kui Buri has presided over a ceremony with Mr. Pichai Watcharawongpaiboon Director of the Office of Conservation  and other officials to launch a forest reforestation project to improve food sources for wild elephants and other wildlife in honor of Queen Sirikit on the occasion of her 88th birthday.

The project at Kui Buri National Park will commence on Mother’s Day, 12th August. The activities to improve food sources include weeding in grass fields and adding artificial saltpots to improve food sources for wild animals.

As August 12th is the birthday of Queen Sirikit, it is important to the Thai people to honor and recognize the grace of Hers Majesty.  One royal initiative was to  solve the problems of Thai elephants in many conservation areas.
