ASEAN COVID-19 CASES – THE PHILIPPINES, INDONESIA AND SINGAPORE ARE THE STAND-OUTS

The Royal Coast Review does not publish a daily COVID-19 ‘score’ which in our opinion does little towards informing readers about the bigger picture, particularly in comparison with other regional countries.

However the most recent information published by the WHO today (19th August) does just that, to highlight how ASEAN countries are faring.

Of course these figures do not give relative population numbers; however it is painfully obvious that the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore with populations of 109.5, 273.5 and 97 million respectively have a dramatically more significant issue than countries such as Vietnam (97 million) and others.

Thailand, with a population of almost 70 million is also far below those three most affected countries, but also far from being the most successful.

No doubt our readers will have their own analysis and conjecture about the reasons behind these figures which really remind us of the need to heed the usual safety messages to keep Thailand safe.
