At a press conference the Food Festival was officially launched as a major annual event presented by the Hua Hin Municipality in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Prachuap Khiri Khan.  The event provides a focus for the stimulation of tourism with the participation of more than 30 restaurants in the hotels and resorts in Hua Hin / Cha-am.  The chefs of these establishments will provide a huge variety of dishes, often with a seafood selection, on sale for between 99 and 388 THB.

Mr. Nopporn Wuttikul, the Mayor of Hua Hin said that this will be the first year the event is being held on the Hua Hin beach as the white sand beaches are well known to tourists.  He also wanted to reassure visitors that safety measures will be in place in accordance with the HDC policy as Hua Hin continues to be a very safe city.

The event coincides with the commencement of bi-weekly Air Asia flights between Hua Hin airport and both Chiang Mai and Udon Thani.  There are plans to welcome arriving travellers with locals wearing Hawaiian costumes to present each arriving passenger with a coupon to use at the Hua Hin beach event.
