Fifteen provinces across the country, including Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi, will get a soaking in the coming week as the southwest monsoon unleashes downpours, posing the risk of flash floods.
Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department director general Chayapol Thitisak said on Tuesday the Meteorological Department had forecast heavy rains through next Tuesday. He warned of the possibility of flash flooding and landslides.
Mae Hong Son and Tak in the North; Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat in the East; Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun in the South; and Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan in the Central region have been put on alert.
Chayapol said disaster-prevention centers in all 15 provinces would be on standby around the clock ready to provide immediate help if needed. Citizens can call 1784 for help or information at any time.
